Mrs. Mugs is having a special trunk show event on Sunday, October 3 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Come see Cesar and his collection of silver and blown glass jewelry.

Cesar's World Event

Falmouth artist Cesar Palma created the "Jewels in Flight" collection, a glittering assortment of genuine butterfly wings hand  set in silver.  Depending on the species, butterflies live from one day up to four weeks. Working directly with the inhabitants of his native Peruvian rainforest, his company, Cesar's World, pays them to collect the butterflies at the end of their life cycle. He then places the wings between handcut sheets of mica and makes a bezel out of .950 silver to finish off each piece. This alloy has a higher silver content than traditional sterling which is .925, and allows Cesar to hand-set each piece. It also has a brighter sheen than regular sterling.

The butterflies thus live on, with their dazzling colors and striking patterns and can be used as personal pieces of adornment. Using the same handcrafted techniques from Inca times, Cesar's mission is to promote the rich history of Peruvian metallurgy while preserving the natural habitat of Peru's native species.

In addition to his butterfly collection, Cesar has desiged his own line of blown glass, including a series of Sailor's Valentines in pendants, rings and earrings as well as clasps for the Convertible Bracelet.

Cesar's World jewelry has been sold at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy's and art museums across the US. We're excited to have him show his collections at Mrs. Mugs. We hope to see you there.
